Introducing Powlo & Starx: "PLAIN MAGIC"!

Hi, everybody!

There is something new, and it’s another collaboration! The new song is called “PLAIN MAGIC” and the master behind this tune is my friend POWLO, who’s  from Manchester! Looks like UK is a base for my collaborations, my new collaboration land! Isn’t it amazing, how the internet can help you to meet other people, musicians, who are willing to work with you, though you are from different parts of the world?
But back to the new song. “PLAIN MAGIC” is “themed around the magic of nature. A chilled piece with lots of ambient sounds and strings backing it up,” Powlo explains on his soundcloud profile.
You will love the sound! I’m very proud and glad Powlo asked me to do the vocals for this song. Also, feel free to visit him at

We called ourselves POWLO & STARX for this tune, haha, it’s like Starsky & Hutch, Riggs & Murtaugh, a good cop duo, who works together well!
So please, feel free to have a listen to “PLAIN MAGIC”, our new song.

Wishing everyone a great weekend!
Thank you!
Marek S.

"Aloha My Love" RELEASED! + News and truths about our music

Hello , all!
This will be a long story, so have a coffee, or a cup of tea, and drown within my letters. I have a few words to say. First of all, let me inform you that my song “ALOHA MY LOVE” (which is probably my most significant tune) has just been released officially on a MUSEBOAT RADIO museboat.wix.com/multimedia compilation called “MUSEBOAT DIGEST – SEASON SPRING 2013” through a German indie label IMMT Records under Museboat Radio and KBM Publishing kbmpublishing.com. Seriously, this is a very huge step forward for me and I’d like to thank all at Museboat Radio, esp. to Andy, to Kimmy and all at IMMT Records, as well. The compilation includes 13 great songs from great indie artists, I’m sure you’d find your favourites. The compilation is available at

Amazon (worldwide),
Like in the UK:
US:
Germany:
and in many other countries, incl. France, Spain, Japan…. Wherever you are on this planet.

Musicload

and is also available from

The album should be available on iTunes, soon, too.

To make you understand my point is not to force you to buy the compilation, but ofcourse, you can buy it if you want. It does feel very cool to share such happy news with you.  All of you reading now, all of you clicked that „become a fan“ button. But let’s just be honest.  There are not many people coming back to my reverbnation profile to listen. I understand. It’s hard to find time to listen, we live the busy times. And whoever you are, there is one sentence that I really don’t like when someone introduces themselves to me saying something like: „I liked/fanned your page, please, like/fan me back“, or „Like my page and I will return the favour“...  Trust me, if I liked your pages or became your fan it was because I found the time to listen to your music, really liked it and then decided to become your fan. Another honest thing is, we are not really fans of each other. We’re all musicians, mostly indies doing our ‚thing‘. It’s great to interact with each other, learn new things, find new collaborations. That’s why ReverbNation is a great tool for musicians. But the problem is a real lack of real fans. People hardly find time to listen and share something that is not commercial. And that’s a fact. But I’m thankful for all of you. You know that.

I never know what the future prepares for me and my music. I know it’s not perfect, and that I’m not perfect. I’m trying to do my best on a very beginner’s level, though some of my collaborations took my music to a whole different level. Whenever you find some time, you can listen to my songs. Something very experimental is on the way, a whole new sound to me, plus I’m working on a song called „Kind Of Love“ and trying to make it sound as best as possible. We’ll see, if it works. I’ll let you know. Thanks for reading and have a successful new week! Thank you.

Marek.

NEW SONG WITH JOEL A. HESLOP FROM MR SPOON

Hello, everybody!

I'd like to let you know that a new version of my song "I WILL CARRY YOU HOME" is uploaded to all of my social sites. It's a collaboration with a great musician JOEL AMEN HESLOP from a Welsh indie rock band MR SPOON. Joel was the one who suggested we collaborated and he liked "I Will Carry You Home". So we decided to record it together. He did 12 string guitar and I did piano & harmonica sound, as well as a little wah-wah effect at the end of the song. And HERE's the result of our collab, hope you enjoy it!

Sincerely, I want to thank Joel and all of his friends and fans who clicked the link and supported us by listening to our song. As well as I THANK YOU my friends and fans!!!

Joel A. Heslop

Check out Joel & his band MR SPOON at:

The new MR SPOON album is called "THE TEMPLE AT THE CENTRE OF TIME"
featuring great songs like "Greed", "Shadow", "Burnt Out" or "Room 19":

Music. makes sense

Hello, everyone!

I'd like to thank everybody for your support! It is just unbelievable, amazing... I can't even express the way I feel. Your support means a lot to me. There are several new songs on the way. I'm still finding my own way, my own style... The new song will be a collaboration with great Joel Amen Heslop from the band called Mr Spoon (from Wales, UK). The more I try, the more more I realise all the things I need to improve. But I have to say that I love this self-evolution! I like learning new things! When everything's finished, I will let you know about it!
Keep in touch and THANKS!
Enjoy the weekend!

PS: Btw, I created my new site with complete info, news, music information, videos and downloads for you. Feel free to check it out!

WHY DOES STARX GO POP?! :)

Hello to anybody who's reading this.
I haven't been blogging for quite a long time. These days I put together "a few" songs from years 2008-2012 and collected my album called "STARX GOES POP!". It describes my era of moving on with my music to more serious level, so to say. However, it is still no real album at all. I picked 13 songs that described that era the best:

1. Aloha My Love
2. Not Enough
3. I Will Carry You Home
4. Lunatic World
5. Shiny For You
6. Begging For More
7. I Didn't Mean To Make You Cry
8. Play With My Mind
9. Fly With Me
10. Night So Long
11. Natural
12. Pieces To Pieces
13. Our Song

I do think that if I was really supposed to pick 13 songs for a real album, it'd be those 13 songs. So I made several pics for this non-existing album, and added other 9 tracks as "bonus tracks", mostly my first versions, or songs which were very different to those 13 songs. But they simply have to be part of that era. All of my songs are like my little babies. An idea of creating this online album came out of the blue to me. I had no idea I was going to do that that day. Though I had this title in my head for years, it sounded very good to me and now I see that my ideas payed off.
Sometimes I feel like nothing I do with music makes no sense. Writing and playing my new songs is my joy, but recording them is pain for me. I'm looking for better quality and I think I'm becoming much harder to myself. I was also thinking about looking for some band here in my area. I don't think I was born for stage. I don't know what it takes to have a band. After all, I checked several bands... and sadly (for me) all musicians are metal/heavymetal/punk bands. I like pretty much all music genres, but as the title says "Starx Goes Pop!", I want to play real good pop music. I know that pop has been bastardised a lot, production of pop hits is horrible mainly these days. I believe I'm on my way to pop as it used to be years ago. Intelligent lyrics and great melodies. No shit like "baby, baby, baby, let's dance on the dancefloor", etc.
People are getting stupid with such stupid songs. That's why it is harder to find the people who would listen to pop.
There are so many great musicians out there, anytime I log in to my ReverbNation profile I know I am going to find several of them. Today, I got a very nice message about my music, I hope you don't mind if I share it with you now: "I am such a huge fan of your sound. It is unlike anything I hear anywhere. Anyone who loves big ballads and classical feeling pop/rock is missing something if they don't listen to your music. it is truly blessed."
I am only blessed if people understand the meaning of what I'm doing. And the cool guy, who is an amazing musician, too, told me everything I'd been trying to reach with my songs with his words. I don't know if I ever get any other message like that. I'm not sure about anything. I love music, it's my only everlasting love. That's the only thing I know for sure. It may sound a bit pathetic, but it's true. On the other hand... about 4 years ago I got a very sincere message from one Slovak artist who later was featured in several tv series and performs in musicals. He sent me his reaction on one of my songs called "I Was Born In 1980"... "your music is good, it is lively, but please, don't sing! It sounds horrible, mainly in this song! Create, write, but find somebody else to sing your songs!" he said. I felt like hitting the hardest rock. It took me few days to get over his message till I realised I was thankful for his opinion. He took me down to earth from my egosphere. So I always appreciate all opinions. People have different thoughts on different things.
I don't consider myself being a singer or musician, nor artist at all. I'm no artist. I'm only trying to do what I love. Better, worse, good, bad... I need to taste it all. And the only thing I know is that I love music. Am I pathetic again?

Thank you to everyone who has ever supported me and helped me.
     Marek.

Starx Goes Pop! (A-LISTEN-ONLINE ALBUM)

Hello!
It's been some time since I had this idea of creating an 'album' that would be called "Starx Goes Pop!". And the time is now! It expresses a change in my musical direction, going from dance music to more kind of pop/rock stuff. I've collected my best 13 songs (+ 7 more original demos/songs/reworked stuff/Slovak versions) and created a special playlist where you can listen to all the tunes from one link-click below. It will take you straight to my "Starx Goes Pop!" ReverbNation playlist, so make sure you also click "PLAY ALL" up in the right corner of my reverbnation profile. Hope you enjoy! :)
